Fluency is a routine, not a purchase. This page arranges the tools by stage: build the habit, grow vocabulary, flood your ears with real language, then speak with humans.
Each stage links to the tools that help most at that point. The method matters more than any single app.
Build the habit
Ten minutes daily beats two hours on Sunday. Pick one app course as your spine, attach it to an existing routine like breakfast or the commute, and protect the streak loosely: never miss twice. A paper notebook by the kettle still beats most notification systems.
Grow vocabulary
Spaced repetition does the remembering for you. Save words you actually meet rather than downloading somebody else’s list.

Hear real language
Once the basics stick, switch to real content: dual subtitles on Netflix, lyric videos, podcasts for learners. Comprehensible input beats more exercises. Tools like Language Reactor exist precisely for this stage.
Speak with humans
AI tutors are good for reps, but fluency happens when a real person waits for your answer. Book a weekly lesson on italki, or trade languages free on Tandem. Expect it to feel hard: that feeling is the progress.
Stick with it
Set a floor, not a ceiling: five minutes counts. Review weekly, and when a tool starts boring you, swap it rather than quitting. The tools change; the habit is the point.
